A crawling tyre works the opposite way to a racing one: soft carcass, open tread, and the wall allowed to fold so the footprint grows over an obstacle. These are the wheels for that job on the H12Y and H12P, and they are why those chassis walk up things our trucks bounce off. Keep the nuts to a sensible torque — overtightening a crawler wheel pulls the bead out of shape.

Living with it

Hose the mud off before it dries and check the wheel nuts after the first run on a new set. Grit between tire and rim is what works a bead loose.
