LiPo packs and charging for HYPER GO RC cars

Two cell counts, two cables, and no guesswork about which HYPER GO RC car takes which.

Run time and top speed are the same argument seen from two sides, and the pack decides both. Our 2S 7.4V 3000 mAh Angry Snail holds more capacity at lower voltage: longer sessions, gentler power, the sensible choice for a first battery and for anyone handing the transmitter to a child. The 3S 11.1V 2000 mAh pack trades minutes for voltage and is what sits behind the speed figures on the box.

Both are 25C, both carry the same connector, and both arrive with the adapter wiring and a clip. The charging side is deliberately not universal: the P2050 cable serves 2S, the P3050 serves 3S. Keeping them apart is what stops a 2S pack from seeing a 3S charge profile.

A pack that comes off the truck hot should cool before it goes on charge, and a pack that is going into a drawer for a month should go in at about half charge rather than full.

What the cell count changes

A 2S pack is two cells at 7.4 volts. A 3S pack is three at 11.1. The motor in a brushless HYPER GO car turns faster for every extra volt it sees, so the same vehicle gains roughly a third of its top speed moving from 2S to 3S and loses a comparable slice of its run time.

Capacity pulls the other way. Our 2S Angry Snail holds 3000 mAh against the 3S pack's 2000, which is why the slower setup usually stays out longer. Neither number is a quality ranking — they are two ends of the same trade.

Matching a pack to the chassis

The 45A speed control fitted to the H16BM, H16PL and H14BM reads the pack on connection and sets its low voltage cutoff for two or three cells automatically. There is nothing to set and nothing to solder. The brushed cars take 2S only.

Connectors are common across the range, so a pack bought for one truck will plug into the next. Check the bay length before you buy a second chassis: the 1/14 scale tray is longer than the 1/16.

Charging without shortening the pack's life

The P2050 cable charges two cell packs and the P3050 charges three. They are deliberately not interchangeable, because a 2S pack asked for a three cell charge profile is a fire rather than a mistake. Keep them labelled and keep them apart.

Charge on a hard surface, never on carpet or in the car, and stay in the room. A pack that came off the truck hot wants twenty minutes to cool first.

Storage, swelling and when to retire a pack

LiPo cells age fastest sitting full. A pack going into a drawer for a month should go in at about half charge, somewhere cool, away from anything that burns.

Retire a pack when it puffs, when the case will not sit flat, or when run time has dropped by a third from new. None of those is a repairable fault, and a swollen pack that is still being driven is the single most dangerous thing in this hobby.

What our customers ask most

Most of the messages we get about batteries are version questions: an owner has a pack from an older car and wants to know whether it suits the one that just arrived. Send us the printed label and the model code of the vehicle and we will answer it; we keep no personal data beyond the mail itself and we do not pass it on.

The second most common message is a run time complaint that turns out to be a tired pack rather than a faulty car. Two packs of the same age, swapped between two trucks, settle that argument in ten minutes.

Buying order for a new HYPER GO RC car

If the car came with two 2S packs, the next purchase is a third 2S rather than a first 3S: more driving beats more speed at the start. If the car came with one pack, buy its twin.

Move to 3S once you have broken something and replaced it yourself. That is not a joke about durability — it is the point at which an owner knows the chassis well enough to use the extra performance.

Which HYPER GO RC car takes which pack

The brushless cars — H16BM, H16PL and the 1/14 scale H14BM — run either cell count, because the 45A speed control detects the pack and sets its cutoff. The brushed monster truck is a 2S vehicle and nothing on this shelf changes that.

Pack size is the second filter. The 1/16 battery tray is shorter than the 1/14 one, so a pack that suits the bigger truck may not drop into the smaller chassis even though the connector matches.

Reading a pack label

Four numbers matter: cell count, capacity in milliamp hours, the C rating and the physical size. Ours are 25C, which is the delivery ceiling rather than a performance claim — it is what lets a brushless motor pull hard without the voltage collapsing.

Charging cables are listed by cell count for the same reason. The P2050 and P3050 are specific, deliberately, and the materials in the connectors are not interchangeable between them.

Asking us about a pack

Battery questions are the ones we answer most. Please send the printed label and the model code of your vehicle; that is enough data for us to tell you whether a pack suits it. Our contact address sits in the footer.

If a pack arrived swollen or warm in the box, say so in the first line and stop charging it. That is the one case where we want the message before you take any other action.

Where the pack sits in the whole vehicle

An MJX HYPER GO truck is a chain: battery, speed control, motor, drivetrain, suspension, wheels. The pack sets the ceiling for all of it. A tired battery looks like a slow motor, feels like a soft throttle, and gets blamed on everything from the receiver to the body shell.

That is why the RTR boxes ship with a charger and why the 4WD cars read cell count automatically. The maximum figure on the box assumes a healthy pack and a protective, waterproof loom that has not been hosed out at close range. Neither has been achieved yet by a car that has been left wet.

Talking to us about an order

Our services are deliberately small: we hold stock, we answer questions and we send replacements. There is no queue to secure and nothing to join. If a parcel is late we will track it from our end.

Reviewed properly, most battery complaints turn out to be charging habits rather than faults, and we would rather say so than sell you another pack. Screw kits and suspension parts are on neighbouring shelves if the real problem turns out to be further down the car.
