Every brushed truck we build and the gentler side of the brushless range run on two cells, and this is the lead that fills them. It lives in the box lid rather than the tool tray in our own pit, because a cable that is coiled with the packs is a cable that comes back. Keep a spare if you run more than two packs — charging in series is the quickest way to end a session early.

Those codes are stamped on the chassis plate under the body; photographs are a poor guide at this scale, because neighbouring versions differ by a couple of millimetres and look identical. If the plate on your car is unreadable, send us a picture with the shell off and we will tell you which version you have.

Living with it

Charge this pack with the cable made for its cell count, never in the car, and let it cool for twenty minutes after a run. Store it at about half charge if it is going in a drawer.

Can I charge it from a wall adapter?

Through the matched USB charging cable, yes. Do not use a charger intended for a different cell count — the cables are specific for a reason.

How do I know when it is finished?

When the case swells, when it will not sit flat, or when run time has fallen by a third from new. None of those is repairable.
