The brushed monster truck — our starting chassis, ready to run out of the box, and the one we recommend when the driver is still learning what a throttle does.

Model code H16DR. Quote it when you order a spare — our part numbers are printed on the bag.

About this RC car

A 390 brushed motor and a 35A two in one board keep the cost and the heat down, and the taller monster truck stance makes mistakes survivable: it rolls, it does not cartwheel. Underneath it is the same 1/16 platform as our brushless cars, which matters more than the motor — the shocks, arms, drive shafts, wheels and bodies on this shelf are the same parts. When the driving gets quicker, the brushless motor and the separate speed controller drop straight in.

Where it sits in the HYPER GO RC car range

The H16DR is part of our Brushless RC Cars shelf, which carries 5 vehicles for the MJX HYPER GO range. Model code H16DR is the number every listing here is keyed to: quote it and the gears, shocks, wheels and bodies that suit this chassis all line up. The vehicle itself is a ready to run 4WD truck on LiPo power, so nothing on this page needs soldering or building.

Fit and compatibility

This car is listed against the chassis named in its title. Those codes are stamped on the chassis plate under the body; photographs are a poor guide at this scale, because neighbouring versions differ by a couple of millimetres and look identical. If the plate on your car is unreadable, send us a picture with the shell off and we will tell you which version you have.

Living with it

Run the first two packs on 2S before you reach for three cells. A HYPER GO RC car is quick enough on two to teach you where the limits are, and the parts you have not broken yet are the ones you keep.

Questions about the H16DR

Does the H16DR come ready to run?
Yes. It leaves us built and painted with the motor, speed control, steering servo and receiver fitted, the transmitter already bound and a charger in the tray.
What battery does it take?
A 2S pack as standard. The 45A speed control also detects a 3S pack and sets its own low voltage cutoff, so the maximum speed on the box is a cable and a battery away.
Is it waterproof?
The electronics are sealed against wet grass, puddles and light snow. That is a protective rating rather than permission to submerge the vehicle.

Excellent product.

Excellent product. Runs well even on grass and mulch. Great value. My 10 yr old grandson loves it.

It’s so much fun!

This thing is just perfect. I got it for my 6 year old for Christmas and we have had a blast playing with it. It’s very durable, and that’s a good thing because this thing moves. It’s as fast as you’d want a RC truck to be unless you’re a YouTube influencer or something. I told my kid to put it on 70% to get used to it and that lasted about 10 minutes before he wanted max power. He’s got really good at it. I don’t…

Best purchase in years! A high quality RC truck for under $100

I didn’t expect that my 1/16 Hyper Go H16DR would be this much fun! I don’t take it outdoors (to keep the internals and the tires/wheels dust free), but that doesn’t diminish the fun factor one bit. The H16DR is speedy enough with the original 2S battery, but then it absolutely flies with the Angry Snail 3S battery I added (you don’t have to use the 3S, but I’m too attached to the upgraded performance to revert it…
