About this spur gear

Constant velocity joints keep the drive smooth through suspension travel, which on a short wheelbase truck with a lot of articulation is most of the time. The metal set replaces the composite shafts that come out of a hard landing first, and it is the single upgrade we would make to a brushless sixteenth scale car before any other. Living with it

Set gear mesh with a strip of paper between the teeth, tighten, then pull the paper out. Replace shafts in pairs across an axle so the car tracks straight under power.

How do I know this is the right part?

Go by the model code on the chassis plate and the fits row above, not by the photograph. Drivetrain parts differ by a couple of millimetres and look identical in pictures.

Do I need to replace the pinion as well?

If you are replacing a worn spur, yes — they wear as a pair and a fresh gear against a worn pinion will whine and fail again quickly.

Is the differential serviceable?

It is supplied sealed and fitted as a unit. We do not sell the internal gears separately.
