About this oil filled shock

A rear end that is too stiff on a four wheel drive truck unloads the inside wheel and spins up on exit, which is why we do not ship one shock for both ends. These are the rear shocks for the H14BM and the 14210, and they belong with the 14510B at the front. If the truck has been landing hard on its tail, check the shafts for a bend before you blame the oil.

Those codes are stamped on the chassis plate under the body; photographs are a poor guide at this scale, because neighbouring versions differ by a couple of millimetres and look identical. If the plate on your car is unreadable, send us a picture with the shell off and we will tell you which version you have.

Living with it

Replace across an axle rather than one corner at a time. A fresh shock opposite a tired one makes a car that turns differently left and right, which is harder to drive than two tired shocks.

If the shock body is wet with oil, yes. If the shaft is bent and the corner stays down, you need the unit rather than a rebuild.
