About this oil filled shock

This is the part we would call structural rather than a spare: the girder sets the wheelbase and carries the gearbox and the links, and a bent one puts the whole car permanently out of square. If a twelfth scale chassis has started pulling to one side with everything else new, measure the girder before buying anything further. Replacing it is a full strip, so do the bushings and the hinge pins at the same time.

Where it sits in the HYPER GO RC car range

The P12Y02 is part of our Suspension, Shocks & Arms shelf, which carries 13 parts for the MJX HYPER GO range. Model code P12Y02 is the number every listing here is keyed to: quote it and the gears, shocks, wheels and bodies that suit this chassis all line up. It is a service part rather than a vehicle, so check the fits row before you order.

Fit and compatibility

This part is listed against H12Y, H12P. Those codes are stamped on the chassis plate under the body; photographs are a poor guide at this scale, because neighbouring versions differ by a couple of millimetres and look identical. If the plate on your car is unreadable, send us a picture with the shell off and we will tell you which version you have.

Living with it

Replace across an axle rather than one corner at a time. A fresh shock opposite a tired one makes a car that turns differently left and right, which is harder to drive than two tired shocks.

Questions about the P12Y02

Which end of the car does this suit?
The fits row above lists the chassis and, where it matters, the end. Front and rear units on the 1/14 cars are different lengths.
Are these sold singly or in pairs?
As listed on the card. Shocks come in pairs so that an axle always gets matched damping; arms are sold both ways depending on the part.
My truck bounces after landings. Is this the fix?
If the shock body is wet with oil, yes. If the shaft is bent and the corner stays down, you need the unit rather than a rebuild.
