The ten run service for a HYPER GO RC car
Twenty minutes on the bench, once every ten packs, and most of what breaks never gets the chance.
Why ten runs
Ten packs is roughly two good afternoons. It is long enough for fasteners to work loose and short enough that nothing has yet worn into anything else. Every failure we see on a returned car started as something visible at this interval.
The routine below takes twenty minutes and needs a hex driver, a brush, a cloth and the screw kit. No special tools and nothing comes apart that cannot be put back.
Body off, and look before you touch
Pull the four clips and lift the shell. Before cleaning anything, look: oil on a shock body, a bright scrape on a lower arm, a cracked pillar, a wire rubbing on the spur gear. Dirt hides all of these and cleaning destroys the evidence.
Check the shell itself while it is in your hands. A star crack at a mounting hole becomes a torn body at the next landing.
Clean dry, not wet
Brush the chassis out and blow the dust off the motor fans and the speed control heatsink. Keep water away from the electronics even on a car rated to shrug off a puddle — a hose aimed at a connector is a different thing from wet grass.
Grit inside a wheel hub is the one place worth being thorough. It grinds the bearing, and a dry bearing takes the hub carrier with it.

Fasteners, in the order that matters
Four wheel nuts first, because a loose one loses a wheel. Then the motor mount screws, then the shock mounts, then the servo and the receiver tray. Press down hard on the driver and stop as soon as the screw seats — these threads are in plastic and will strip if you lean on them.
A lock nut that spins down under finger pressure has lost its grip. Replace it from the kit rather than tightening it further.
Drivetrain checks
Lift the car and turn a wheel by hand with the pack out. It should turn smoothly with a little drag from the gears. Notchiness is a bearing, a click once per revolution is a differential or a shaft, and a grinding noise that comes and goes is gear mesh.
Look at the spur gear teeth. Faces that have gone shiny and pointed are worn and will take the pinion with them, which is why we sell the two as a pair.
Shocks and geometry
Push each corner down and let it rise. It should return once, firmly, without bouncing. A corner that pogos has lost oil; a corner that stays down has a bent shaft.
Stand behind the car and sight along the front wheels. Visible toe out or one wheel leaning differently means a bent arm or a knocked tie rod, both of which get worse quickly if left.

Battery and radio
Look at every pack on the bench, not just the one in the car. Any swelling, any case that will not lie flat, and it goes out of service. Check the connector for browning, which means a loose fit and heat.
Switch the transmitter on, switch the car on, and check steering centre and throttle neutral before you put the shell back. A servo that returns slowly to centre has a stripped gear.
What to keep in the box
A screw and clip kit, a wheel hardware kit, one front lower arm set, a pair of shocks for the end that lands first, and a spare set of body clips. That list covers most of what stops an afternoon.
Write the model code on the lid of the box while you are there. Every spare on our site is listed against it, and the sticker on the chassis will not survive a second season.
Why a HYPER GO RC car rewards this
An MJX HYPER GO truck is an RTR 4WD car built to be taken apart. Every fastener is a standard size, every shock is a unit rather than an assembly, and the model codes on the chassis plate — H16BM, H16PL, H14BM — key every spare on this site. That combination is what makes a twenty minute service worth doing instead of an hour of diagnosis later.
The protective sealing on the electronics takes care of wet grass. It does not take care of grit in a hub or a lock nut that has worked loose, and neither of those has ever fixed itself yet.

What to look at on the battery and charging side
Lay every pack on the bench, not just the one in the car. Look for swelling, for a case that will not sit flat, and for browning on the connector, which means a loose fit and heat. Check the charger cable for the same thing.
Run time that has dropped by a third from new is a retired pack, not a faulty car. Two packs swapped between two vehicles settle that in ten minutes and save a great deal of guessing about the motor.
After the service
Write what you did and what you replaced on the inside of the box lid. The next time performance drops off you will have data rather than memory, and the customer who can say what changed gets a far better answer out of us.
Our contact address is in the footer. If something came apart that should not have, our first action is a replacement; we would rather secure that than discuss it.

Questions we get asked
- How often should I do this if I only run occasionally?
- Count packs rather than weeks. Ten packs is the interval whether that takes a fortnight or six months, although a car stored for a season deserves a look before the first run back.
- Do I need to grease anything?
- Not at this interval. The differentials are sealed and the bearings are shielded. If something needs grease to turn smoothly, it needs replacing instead.
- What if I find a bent part?
- Replace it rather than straightening it. A straightened arm has a memory and will fold at the same point, usually at a worse moment.
- Can I do this on a car bought secondhand?
- Yes, and it is the first thing to do. A previous owner reviewed nothing, substituted parts and lost the screw kit, so assume every fastener needs checking.
